  12. I have been informed that I am the third subscriber to this facility who 
  13. has come up with this idea and based on this I am going to post a pilot
  14. script (Part One) and I would really appreciate it if anyone who reads it
  15. would place a comment after it to describe what you really think, even if
  16. it is to say it's a load of crap
  17.  
  18. Here goes:-

  22. LOCATION - BRIDGE OF ENTERPRISE
  23. CAPTAIN JEAN-LUC PICARD IS ADDRESSING WESLEY CRUSHER
  24.  
  25. "Ensign, Increase speed to warp factor three"
  26. "Yes sir"
  27.  
  28. PICARD TURNS HIS ATTENTION TO DATA
  29.  
  30. "Mr Data, How long before we reach Starbase One?"
  31. "At our present speed I estimate three hours, six minutes and twenty four
  32. seconds Captain"
  33.  
  34. PICARD STARTS TO SIT DOWN IN HIS CHAIR WHEN DATA SPEAKS AGAIN
  35.  
  36. "Captain, sensors have picked up an unidentified space vessel headed on what
  37. appears to be an interception course"
  38.  
  39. PICARD - "How long before it reaches us?"
  40. DATA - "At our respective speeds we will encounter each other in one hour,
  41. twenty minutes and ..."
  42. PICARD (Hastily Speaking) - "Thank you Data"
  43. CRUSHER - "Sir, the vessel has changed course again and is now ... Captain
  44. it appears to have taken on a rather erratic flight pattern"
  45. WORF - "Confirmed Sir, and it has just begun to send out a distress signal"
  46. PICARD - "Ensign, increase to maximum warp and keep us on an intercept course"
  47. CRUSHER - "Yes Captain"
  48.  
  49.             *** BLACKOUT ***
  50.  
  51. SCENE SWITCHES TO COCKPIT OF RED DWARF
  52. RIMMER IS DISPLAYING A COMPLETE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING TO WHAT HAS JUST BEEN
  53. SAID, HE TURNS TO KRYTEN
  54. "Kryten, what exactly do you mean by `warp speed' ?"
  55. KRYTEN - "What I say sir, the ship in question is approaching us at a speed
  56. far beyond Red Dwarf's limit"
  57. LISTER - "Listen Kryten, is there any way of finding out if these guys are
  58. friendly or not?"
  59. CAT - "Who cares? I'm just worried about what that sudden change of direction
  60. did to my hair"
  61. RIMMER - "Cat, we are about to have our first alien encounter for over six
  62. months, our guidance system is wrecked forcing Holly to go round in complete
  63. circles and all you worry about is your hair?"
  64. CAT - "That's right buddy, when the Aliens get here I have to make sure I look good"
  65. KRYTEN - "In answer to your question Mr Lister, the answer is `no'. Although
  66. I hope they are friendly as they will be here in approximately twenty minutes
  67. and they are coming very fast"
  68. LISTER - "Did it look like they were answering our distress signal?"
  69. KRYTEN - "Unknown Sir, although they did increase speed moments after we sent
  70. it out"
  71. LISTER - "I guess we'll have to sit and wait for them"

  73.         *** BLACKOUT - 15 MINS PASSES ***

  75. BACK ON BOARD THE ENTERPRISE
  76. PICARD IS IN HIS READY ROOM
  77. DATA'S VOICE COMES THROUGH THE INTERCOM
  78. "Sir, we have reached the other vessel and they are now hailing us"
  79. PICARD - "I'll be right there"
  80. PICARD ENTERS ONTO THE BRIDGE
  81. PICARD - "On Screen"
  82. VISUAL DISPLAY OF RED DWARF COCKPIT APPEARS
  83. ALL OF RED DWARF CREW ARE VISIBLE
  84.  
  85. PICARD - "What was the reason for your distress call?"
  86. LISTER - "Our guidance system is wrecked and our ship's computer can only
  87. take us round in circles"
  88. PICARD - "We'll be back to you shortly"
  89. - SPEAKING TO DATA "Close Channel"
  90. CHANNEL CLOSES AND SCREEN RETURNS TO SHOWING IMAGE OF SPACE/RED DWARF
  91.  
  92. WORF - "Sir, sensors indicated basic arsenal only and they have no shields"
  93. PICARD - "Thank you Mr Worf, Counsellor what did you make of them?"
  94. TROY - "Only two of the four emitted any emotions at all and there was no
  95. hostility within them"
  96. PICARD - "And the other two?"
  97. DATA - "May I interject Sir, one of the two non-humanoids was definitely an
  98. android and the other had a symbol `H' on his forehead which I believe was
  99. an emblem of a hologram"
  100. PICARD - "Such as what are to be found on the holodeck?"
  101. DATA - "Not really Captain, Holodeck Images are made up of computer generated
  102. graphics influenced by the given user and the hologram on the other ship is
  103. a direct reproduction of what the man was when he died, even with the same
  104. personality"
  105. PICARD DELIBERATES FOR A MOMENT AND MAKES HIS DECISION
  106. HE LINKS UP WITH THE ENGINE ROOM ON THE INTERCOM
  107. "Mr La Forge, report to Transporter Room One, Mr Worf will meet you there"
  108. "Yes Captain"
  109. PICARD TURNS TO WHERE WORF WAS ONLY TO HEAR THE TURBO-LIFT DOOR SHUT
  110. MR WORF IS ON HIS WAY
  111.  
  112. SCENE SWITCHES TO RED DWARF 
  113. LAFORGE AND WORF ARE MATERIALISING IN RED DWARF
  114. MEMBERS OF RED DWARF ARE WATCHING IN AMAZEMENT
  115.  
  116. CAT - "How did you do that?"
  117. LISTER - "Holly, can you tell us where they came from?"
  118. HOLLY - "They came from the other ship"
  119. LISTER - "I know that, I meant ..."
  120. LAFORGE SPEAKS UP
  121. "Sorry to interrupt, but I believe you asked for help"
  122. RIMMER - "Yes we did, but who exactly are you?"
  123. LAFORGE - "Chief Engineer Geordi LaForge at your service and this is Worf,
  124. our Head of Security, we're both from the Starship Enterprise"
  125. LISTER - "The guidance system is just over here"
  126. LAFORGE - "Thanks, and your name is ...?"
  127. LISTER - "Dave Lister, and this is Cat,Kryten and Rimmer"
  128. LAFORGE - "Fine, call me Geordi"

  181. LAFORGE - "Well...it's up to you of course but our transporter system will
  182.          get you all there quickly"

  184. CAT - "Say Buddy, it won't mess up your genes at all will it, I'd hate to
  185.      appear on the other end with the mentality of a fashion victim"

  206.          Red Dwarf Crew Members back with me?"

  208. PICARD HESITATES
  209. "Please stay on this channel Mr LaForge"

  211. PICARD CLOSES THE CHANNEL AND TURNS TO TROY
  212. "Counsellor, what information can you give me?"

  214. TROY - "The human that spoke first appears to be the closest of all of 
  215.       them to possessing some sort of leadership status, apart from him
  216.       only other of the four has any sort of emotion that I can read,
  217.       he gives the impression of someone who has himself way up on a 
  218.       personal list of priorities. In general though I can detect no 
  219.       hostility towards us or this ship"

  224. THE RED DWARF COCKPIT REAPPEARS ON THE SCREEN
  225. LAFORGE IS WAITING FOR THE CAPTAIN'S DECISION

  227. "Mr LaForge, you have my permission to beam them aboard"

  229. LAFORGE - "Thank you Captain
  230. TO RED DWARF CREW - Are you all ready to beam aboard?"

  232. LISTER - "Hang on a minute"

  234. LISTER WALKS OVER TO IMAGE OF HOLLY
  235. "Holly, we're leaving the ship, you're instructions are to follow behind
  236. the other ship"

  238. HOLLY - "Understood"

  240. LISTER TURNS BACK TOWARDS LAFORGE
  241. "We're all ready to go"

  243. LAFORGE NODS AND SPEAKS THROUGH HIS COMMUNICATOR
  244. "Transporter Room, six to beam aboard"

  246. LAFORGE, WORF, LISTER, RIMMER, KRYTEN AND CAT DEMATERIALISE AND REFORM
  247. ON THE ENTERPRISE

  249. LAFORGE - "Well we're here, what do you think so far?"
  250. KRYTEN - "Very Impressive Sir, tell me - do you have any androids such as
  251.         me aboard?"
  252. LAFORGE - "We certainly do, his name's Data and I'm sure he's being 
  253.          looking forward to meeting you all"

  255. COMMANDER RIKER ENTERS THE TRANSPORTER ROOM
  256.  
  257. "Hello Gentlemen and Welcome to the Enterprise, the Captain wishes to
  258.  ensure your well-being and as such has assigned you a crew member"
  259.  
  260. LAFORGE - "I'd like to volunteer for that sir"
  261.  
  262. RIKER - "Sorry Geordi, but you're needed elsewhere, the Captain is waiting
  263.        for you in the Conference Room"
  264.  
  265. LAFORGE - "Yes sir"
  266.  
  267. LAFORGE EXITS THE ROOM PASSING DATA IN THE DOORWAY
  268. RIKER TURNS TO HIM

  270. "Ah Data, I have been expecting you"

  274. "This is the crew member I have chosen to assign to you, if you have any
  275.  questions he will be only to happy to answer them for you"

  284. THE CONFERENCE ROOM
  285. PICARD, RIKER, WORF, LAFORGE AND TROY ARE ALL IN ATTENDANCE
  286. PICARD HAS BEGUN TO BRIEF THEM ON THE SITUATION
  287.  
  288. "The situation is this, a Romulan Warship has passed through the Neutral
  289.  Zone and is headed for Outpost Atlar 5 which is the nearest inhabited
  290.  Federation Space Planet, it has a population of approximately 650.
  291.  
  292.  The Romulans have not so far displayed any hostility despite being in
  293.  direct violation of the Treaty, they will reach Atlar 5 within the
  294.  hour"
  295.  
  296. WORF - "I don't see that we have any alternative Sir, the Romulan Warship
  297.       must be intercepted and escorted back to the Neutral Zone, with
  298.       force if necessary"
  299.  
  300. RIKER - "I agree to a point, but advise more discretion in this case, after
  301.        all if they really intended any hostility surely they would display
  302.        a stronger show of force"
  303.  
  304. LAFORGE - "Perhaps, but I still think we should be cautious, after all our
  305.          previous dealings with the Romulans have been less than savoury"
  306.  
  307. TROY - "All these points are valid but shouldn't we attempt to communicate
  308.       with them first in the event that they have a legitimate reason
  309.       for crossing into Federation Space"
  310.  
  311. PICARD CONSIDERS ALL OF THESE POINTS OF VIEW CAREFULLY
  312. HE LOOKS UP AND ASKS
  313. "Has anyone got anything further to add?"
  314.  
  315. NO-ONE SPEAKS SO PICARD RISES
  316. "Very well, then I declare this meeting over"
  317.  
  318. EVERYONE ELSE STANDS UP AND FILES OUT OF THE ROOM
